MY
PHILOSOPHY STATEMENT ON EDUCATION
It is my firm belief that although an essential proficiency of discrete subjects such as Mathematics, Science, English and others is vital for a child to achieve an adequate education to groom him/her for a better adulthood, I feel that real education must emphasize the development of the complete person.
It should be through proper education that my students should learn to make the right decisions and choices in their life as a mature adult.
Therefore, in my view the student must learn not only the particular subject, but also find out how it is related to other subjects, to him/herself, and to the outside World. The outcome should be someone that both the school and I could be proud of.

TEACHER’S SELF DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
Teaching is both rewarding and challenging and teachers are different things to different people within the education system. As teachers progress through the different stages of their career from becoming a newly qualified teacher to growing, maturing and becoming a newly retired teacher their personal and professional needs change.
At this point in my career, after teaching for about 15 years, I feel the need of extending my knowledge even further by doing my Masters in Mathematics as it is a subject that I enjoy the most.
Furthermore, due to a continuous change and development in the technology I would like to attend certified courses that can increase my knowledge to incorporate the latest technology in my lesson planning and teaching techniques.
Recently I have joined a TEFL course, which is a unique way for teachers to explore and learn new teaching techniques. It is a 120-hours extensive certification course (level 5) which is designed by London Teacher Training College, United Kingdom.
There are a number of factors that affect the personal development of a person, but what is most important that can make great teachers stand out is their ability to engage both their minds and emotions.
CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT
Teenagers or young adults have a lot of energy, enjoy technology, and have learning needs that are very specific. In my years of experience I have come up with certain rules of my own that I follow rigidly in my classroom.
1. Set a code of behavior in the classroom
A teacher is not the boss but the leader of the class, and just like any leader he/she has to set up a certain classroom rules. My philosophy is to always start tough then later on you can loosen up once your students are aligned with you. The code of behavior must be set up in the earlier classes and the students should be well informed about the consequences of their behavior should it not be socially acceptable to the rest of the class or to you.
2. Be understandable and approachable:
Most of the time the odd behavior of the students is when they are unable to understand the teacher. It is very important to keep the interest of he students alive and make sure they are with you throughout the lesson. Engage the students by randomly asking them to assist you in different classroom activities. Make yourself approachable so the students do not feel scared or embarrassed to ask the same question twice.
3. Handling troublemakers:
· The first type of troublemakers is an attention seeker. They show off to entertain the class. Try to ignore them if it is a minor issue but be firm, sometimes a stare is just enough.
· The second type is the power seeker; they always want to argue with the teacher. Never argue or fight with the students. Listen to their point of view calmly and if they are wrong ask them to search the topic again and bring a reference in the next class.
· The third type is the depressed and ignored student. Always remember there is definitely something likeable in everyone, so try to highlight their ability so that they can overcome their shyness and gain confidence.
4. Be fair:
Be firm in your class when it comes to following your own set rules. Be fair and avoid any kind of bias attitude in the class. Students always idealize their teacher so set yourself as a role model for your students.
